Soil is a very important natural resource. It is made of a mixture of nonliving and once living things.



So, tell me some nonliving things as well as some living things that could be in the soil.





Soil can be classified on their texture which affects a soil's ability to hold water and support plant growth. Which soil do you think holds water the best? Why?

· Sand – course texture drains water fast.
· Silt – has a fine texture can hold water & air
· Loam – mixture of silt, sand & clay
· Humus – decaying matter from plants, animal wastes that break down into the soil.

Lab - Flood - 01-18-11

Today in lab we set up a stream table for "FLOOD".


Flood is a very heavy flow of water, which is greater than a normal channel flow.
