Lab - Adaptations - 03-08-11

How do you feel about your terrarium project grade?

How do you think you could have improved your grade?

How do you think you did on the growth of your terrarium?

Adaptations - help animals survive.
Can you give some examples of animals and their adaptations......

  1. I feel good about my grade and I think we could have used that light blue fertilizer mixed with water and my growth was really good

I had to leave during lab so I did not figure out my grade. Our grouth on our terrarium was amazing. An example of an animal and an adaptions is a chameleon blending in to the environment to survive.

I think my terraruim project grade was good. My plants were really really high. It was sooo cool but my clovers didnt really grow. Our worm was underground and my group didnt know and then at the end of lab it came out. (I was like WOAH!!!!!)
I think if couple of our plants were leaning we would of got a better grade.
    examples:
    1. Birds have to fly south for thw inter because its very cold.(Brrrrrrr!)
2.Bears and more other animals hibernate for the winter because its cold and there is no food.
3.Sometimes the animals fur helps them. :)

  4. I think our grade was good. I think we should not have gotten rocks. Our plants grew very well.

  5. I got a 100% I cant improve :( My largest plant was 10 inches tall!

Foxes have adapted their coat to blend in to the invirment

I feel great about my grade I think I did awesome.

I think I could of improved my grade if we put the corn down more in the soil.

I think I did good with the growth because 5 out of 6 of my plants grew.

    1. example is camoflauge it helps animals hide from the animals that try to hunt them. 2.When an animal goes into hibernation.

  7. I feel I got what I deserve.
I could have improved my grade by not putting unknown substances on my plants.
I think it could have gone better, but it did OK.

Penguin- had to learn to swim instead of fly.
    Bear- hibernates
White Fox- has white fur to camouflage it to the snow.

I think it was fair enough, I think we didn't need to improve because I think it was a good grade. We grew allot of seeds and it sprouted really fast.

i think we got a fair grade and i think we should have not got rocks or the blue fertilizer but the bone meal was a good choice

  10. I think our grade was reasonable.

I wish we had not put as much water in.

I find our plants did very well.

    Bear: Hibernate.

    Butterfly: Migrate.

    Arctic Fox: Camouflage.

I think our grade was pretty good, but not the best. We could've improved by moving the rocks away from blocking the growth. Our plant growth was pretty good, some plants grew a foot in length. A example would be a bear with fur to survive winter.

I think our grade was just right. I don't think we could of improved our rad we did everything we could. Our terrarium did great. Ants can carry twice their own wieght.

I think my grade was good but compared to some other people the grade did not match the plants.

less things that we put in.

ares did nit grow that well:(

I think our grade was fine, not the best but fine. Our plants would of grown better if we had of put less water in it. We pretty much flooded it. Gladly our plants still grew good especially our beans. THEY WERE A FOOT TALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I feel good about my project grade. Not all of our plants grew and that made out grade drop a little bit.

I think that we could have added a little bit more fertilizer to make the corn and bean plants grow a bit more.

We did pretty well. Not everything grew but most of it did.

When a bird moves south for the winter it has to adapt to the warmer climate.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Our grade wasnt great because our plants didnt grow very well only the green bean plants grew ok.

We could have NOT used rocks because they might have blocked the plants from growing.

My growth was ok but it could have been better.

An example of an adaptation is roadrunners adapting to the hot weather in the desert.

    1) I think our grade was good.

    2) We shouldn't have put the earthworm in it.

    3) Our beans grew really well.

    4) A chameleon camouflages to hide from its predator.

    5) Some colorful animals warn its predators that they're poisonous.

    1. I feel pretty good because i graded myself bad but my grade was a lot higher.
2.I don't possibly know because i think 94 is the highest grade in lab I've gotten so I'm not sure.
3.Great because that complemented my grade.

    Animals and their adaptations:
    Fish-gills
    Polar bear-Blubber
    Pelican-Pouch beak
    Humans-sweater;bathing suit etc.

1.FOr how little growth we had, I think we got a great grade!
2.Like most people, we shouldn't of gotten any rocks.
3.Our growth was okay. Other table's were way better than ours.
4.A beavers tail, when a wolf goes hunting, a whale's blubber (fat), and a bird migrating in the winter, are great examples.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Our plant did ok. We should have put more water in our plant. I think we did good.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I think my terrarium project ok. I could have improved the growth of my plants in the terrarium some more to improve my grade. I could have put more water in the terrarium and put tin foil on the outside of it to reflect the sunlight at the plants.

A snow owl has white feathers for camouflage so it will not be eaten. A rattlesnake uses it's rattle to scare preditors away.

  22. Good, I guess but i think we could of done better. By not putting in the rocks. not very good.

    ReplyDelete
  23. 1. I think we should have said 1 grade higher. We could have gone with the blue fertilizer and not have put so much bloodmeal into our terrarium. Our terrarium growth went extremely well and I can't wait to take some of tnem home!!!

    2. Ex: chameleons-ultimate camoflouge to hide from predetors, polar bears-giant warm fur coats for the harsh weather, and insects-hard exoskeleton to protect them.

I think our project grade was very good for our terrarium.

I think we could have improved our grade if we had just added more soil when we first got our terrariums. Other than that I think we did good.

The growth of our terrarium was actually probably the worst part of it I think. Five of our plants were growing but they hadn't grown that much... also back to what I think we did wrong, I'm not sure we used the best soil.

    - a hare in the spring and summer with brown fur and in the colder seasons of late fall and winter white fur for camoflauge in the snow.
    - birds and insects traveling south before cold winters.
    - penguins huddling together to keep warm in the freezing winters.

  25. KaitlynR-CarpenterMarch 8, 2011 at 4:15 PM

I feel that table 4 in Mrs. Carpenters class got a really good grade. The growth of our terrarium got great growth because our plants were a decent hight for how long ago we started growing them.
Some examples of animal adaptations are......
Dragon flies grow up in water and live on land as adults.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Kendrick F-CentanniMarch 8, 2011 at 4:17 PM

I think our grade was good. We could of improved it by putting less bloodmeal in our terrarium. Our terrarium grew good.

A turtle's adaptation is it's shell, which protects it from predators.
A penguin's adaptation is that they all live together, so they can be warm during the winter.
    A bear's adaptation is hibernation.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I feel good about my terrarium grade, I don't think I needed to change or improve it.
I think that the growth of my plants was great my bean plants grew so tall they wouldn't stand!
A chameleon camoflouges to it's surroundings to protect itself from predators.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I feel that our terrarium project grade was decent, putting aside the fact that we added a little to much water and lacked on soil. What this did was not give enough room for the roots to spread and keep the plants straight. Other than that I think our plants grew well. (only 3/6 plants grew decently...) Some animals adapt to an environment by using their physical traits. For example, a giraffe would use its long neck to eat leaves off tall trees. Another example of a physical trait is when an animal uses camoflauge to hide itself from predators in their environment.

  29. I think are grade is good and,We deserved it.
I think we could have not planted are plants as deep as we did.
I think are growth is good, It could have been better.

  34. I wish it grow more.I could have done to put less of the dark blue water. It grow much longer than last time so I am happy!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  35. I feel we could have gotten a better grade. I thought our terrarium did well at first then our plants somehow got bent.

One example of animal adaptions is migrating. Animals and insects travel to other places that are warmer. Or some animals hibernate. They sleep through the winter and wake up when it is warmer.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Our grade was good. I think we could of gotten more blood meal. Ours grew great.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I think our grade was good. I think it needed a little more water. It was bending down. Only two out of six plants grew. A bear survives by eating fish in the wild.

  38. I think it was good.Mrs. Rollins said ours was best in the class! Well I think that we could of added the other worm. Our growth was good. The bean plant was very tall!Polar bears adaptations are antartica.

  39. Awsome.well I fill pritty good about my grade.Awsome and crazy. We put some water in it and we knew witch one was the right one because we had some experts witch was david and korban and hennry and the light one was the good one.

I think our grade was very well.I think not going with the blue fertilizer was a good choice. We should have put more soil in the terrarium for more growth.
    Some Examples of adaptiond are:
a turtle hatching and going strait to the ocean.
a hourse that emediietly stands up.

I think my grade was very good for how my plant grew. I think we should've kept the tin foil on our terrarium. Our plant's grew very good and were straight which I noticed not many plant's were.
Like if the weather turn cold we would put on a jacket and not put on nike short's!

    ReplyDelete
  43. I think our grade is what we diserved and I thought the grade was good.

One way we could have inproved our terruim and grade is by taking off the tin foil on tuesday and adding a bit less water to the plants the first week we watered them.

Over all I think we did pretty good.

.Animals adapt by migrating south for the winter where it's warmer.

    .Hirbernating

    ReplyDelete
  44. *I think that we could have done way better cause we got a 90 and he had very little plants grow.

*We put WAY to much water in our terrarium and that is what caused our earth worms to die and our plants to not grow as well.Cause we almost flooded thhe whole tank so yeah.

*The growth was ok I mean it was pretty tall so im actually proud of what he have done so far.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I felt we did ok but we realized the rocks blocked some of the plants from growing.i think we were able to make the plants that grew grow well.
Examples are-tailes ,legs ,second eyelids ,and hard shells.

  46. Susan D.-Mrs. Rollins/ Mrs. BeanMarch 8, 2011 at 5:21 PM

I think that our grade was good. We kind of made the mistake of choosing our grade, but I think that everyone in our group understands the mistakes that we did.
I think we could have improved in our grade by adding less water. When we added the 100mL of water, it started to flood our terrarium. Water is good for plants, but too much water is not good.
I think the growth of our terrarium was great! We only had three plants growing, but the grew to be really big!
    Some adaptations are:
*giraffe-long neck to reach leaves up high
    *birds-wings to fly
    *butterflies-wings that camouflage(blend in)

    ReplyDelete
  47. I feel great about my project grade i think we should have put the rocks were we put them because it blocked them alot and on the growth part we did well but we could have done better

    ReplyDelete
  48. I feel that I did well on the project grade. I got a 94!

I think I could have improved my grade by not putting earthworms in to the terrarium. They uprooted most of the small plants.

I think the bean plants grew very well, but the other plants only grew about an inch.

Ducks have webbed feet to help them swim. Woodpeckers have long beaks to help them reach bugs inside of trees. Chameleons Blend in with their surroundings to hide from predetors.

Like I said, my growth of my terrarium did great last Thursday.

I was shocked when i looked at are plants they were not at all bad they just did not have the growth that we expected. I think we did good and i will take are grade really i think we got a better grade then we should of.
    Mrs. Rollins is too nice!
I think we could of improved are grade by maybe not putting so much sand and water.
    Adaptations
Some sea animals are able to live out of water for a long period of time.
Also cambels are a example because over many years they don’t have to have water without dying .
Also thanks again Mrs. Rollins for letting me have such a fun lesson. I have learned alot!

I thought my terrarium grade was pretty good.
I think our group could have got a better grade if we put more soil in the terrarium.I think the growth on our terrarium was really good. Some adaptations are like whales because they can stay in the water for a long period of time before coming up to the surface of the water to breathe. Another adaptation are like bears because they hibernate in the winter.

I feel very happy about my grade though I could have improved my grade. I could have not taken the rocks and the fertilizers for flowers. I think the plants grew a lot.
Many animals have adaptions for example the giraffes have long necks to eat leaves or the chamelian that blend with its background.

I think our plants did AWESOME!! I am satisfied with my grade. Maybe tho reason we got a 90 was because we put a little too much bloodmeal.

    ADAPTATIONS
.walking sticks look like sticks in the forest.
.lions are the same color as the grass in the savana so they an hunt for prey.

I was happy about my grades and it was 90%! Yay! And I think my grades good enough. My plants growed very well except for the clovers because all died and the corn didn't make it because the worms dug it up. All animals adapt for example a snow foxes white fur uses it to prey in the winter so they can not be seen.

  60. Yutaka T.-CentanniMarch 8, 2011 at 7:38 PM

I feel that our group gave the right grade for our tarranium (90) and we could have improved it by giving it 150 mL of water the first time. I think our plants did okay but not SUPER GOOD.
An example of an adaptation is a polar bear being white so it can camaflage in the snow/ice and wait for its prey in the instead of brown unlike other bears. It's amazing!

    ReplyDelete
  61. I think our grade was very good and it matched our work.
I think i could have improved it by watching our plants growth better because a lot of our plants started to lean or sag because of height.
I think our growth was very well.
polar bears have thick fur- Antartica

  62. Joseph F.-CarpenterMarch 8, 2011 at 8:34 PM

our plant did very good we had lot's of growth you could almost see the bean one thing that our group could of done is not add the rock's it makes the plant lean on its side we added a little bit of each fertilizer but then we were told that the blue one was not for our kind of plant

A bunny with white fur lives where its cold and snowy to hide from it prey (camouflage) its self from getting eaten

    Science is AWSOME!!!!

i think my project grade was unfair because my group would never listen to me.
I think I should have improved how much water we putting, we put in too much. Which made are plants grow slow.
I think it could of been a lot better

    ReplyDelete
  64. My group and I thought we did pretty bad because it did not grow that much but thanks to Ms.Rollins she gave us a higher grade than we expected.
We could have improved it by growing our plants a little bigger than it is.
I think our terrarium did okay.Because ours did not grow that much.
Polar bear's skin is white because it camouflages in the snow.

I think we got the grade that we deserved , because not all our plants grew into big healthy plants. I think we could have improved our plants if we had put our terrarium closer to the light so it wouldn't have leaned over and got bent by other terrariums .
Some ways animals adapted to the environment is...
Some rabbits and hare have white fur in the winter and brown fur in the summer. Another way an animal adapts to it's environment is when the birds migrate to the south for the winter.
    I LOVE LAB!!!!!!!!!!!

The growth of our plant was good and our plants grew pretty tall and on grew pretty large and some of them were still germenating. Out of six four grew and so we got a good grade.
    Examples:
    white rabbit blending with snow
porcupine using it's spikes to be protected by predators

  77. I think we got the grade that we deserved.
I think we could have improved our grade by not putting a lid on it the first day.
I think our growth was average because we had several large plants, several medium sized plants and a couple of baby plants.

Ducks- have webbed feet to help them swim.
Owls- Can turn white during the winter to be hidden.
Hawks- strong eyesight to help hunt its prey.

Giraffes use their long necks to grab leaves.

  80. I think that the grade was a reasonable.

I thinkwe did a good job for only have 3 or plants out of 6 grow.

I think we could have done better job on bilding are terrarium and taking care of it.

    EX:
Bears have BIG claws to hunt with.
Frogs having LONG toungs so they can get there food.

  81. I was not there so I don't know what grade I got.

I think I got a great grade.I think I do deserve the grade because I did pretty good one it. The only problem was that we had a chunk on big soil so some plants did not grow, still I think it is going to look great.

Winter wolfs-they change in to white in the winter because the get there prey very easy.

    Bears-they hibernate in the winter.
