What are fossils and how are they formed?

What could have caused the formation of a fossil?

Name some fossil fuels......

  1. Fossils are the remains of the animal or plant after it dies. They are formed when they die and they either turn to stone or get preserved such as dinosaurs or mummies. The formation might be when a miquito lands in tree sap and get trapped then later on the sap hardens the misquito inside. A type fossil fuel is coal.

  2. Coal as an example fo a fossil fuel
The death of an animal and rocks
Fossils are left over bones from a dead animal ,when the animal dies ist bones are left over to make fossils

  4. Fossils are rmaines of plants and animals that have either been petrified or buried for millions of years.

Fossils can be formed by tree sap, by water, or by rock.

Some fossil fuels are oil, natural gas

Fossils are remains of organic or once living matter.Fossils are formed by pressure on a hard thing (bones for animals, shells for crustaceans) under ground for millions of years.Fossils are usually formed when an animal dies and gets buried under earth material for millions of years(again I say that). Some fossils can be burned to make energy for houses or everyday objects like a coffee machine. Some fossils can naturally turn into oil (for plastic or toys)or gasoline(for cars) and yet others like coal can be used for heating homes or creating more energy.

  8. fossils-fossils are imprints, molds or fossilized dead living organisms or nonliving organisms made when they die or are imprinted into stone or most likely mud and then after many many years becomes fossilized.

A fossil could have been formed when a saber tooth tiger was frozen into the ice during an ice age.

fossil fuels-coal, oil, and gas are the main fossil fuels.

  9. A fossil is a remain of a dead animal or plant.
A fossil is formed when an animal or plant dies in an area covered with mud/dirt. After millions of years, sediments build up on the mud/dirt and the mud around the bones becomes rock.
A bunch of sediment being deposited at an area where a dinosaur died could result in it being a fossil.
If the conditions are not right, no fossil will form and the bones will decompose.
Some fossil fuels are coal, oil, and natural gas.

  10. A fossil is remains from dead plant or animal material that has been preserved in sedimentary rock. There could have been a dinosaur that died and it's body and the material that would have eventually covered it would create a mold. This mold is called a fossil.
    Some fossil fuels are...
    Coal
    Oil
    And some other natural gases.

  11. Fossils are formed by ethier 1)an imprint of an organism or object that was there long ago or 2) an organism or object that was compresed layer by layer by layer underground. They are formed over millions of years when a creature or object that either made an imprint or died there and it stayed there for a long time.
Some examples of fossil fuels are coal, oil and natural gas.

Fossils are made by dead thing rock overlapes it.

A fossil could be made by something dieing and rock covering it.

    Oil coal petroleum natural gas.

  13. 1. Fossils are the remains of animals or plants that were preserved in rock. The animals either get covered by sediments and are buried for many years. Over the years the plant/animal has decayed and only an imprint is left.

    2. Amber can help preserve the organism that has been trapped.

    3. Examples are oil, coal, natural gas, petroleum, and etc.

  15. Fossils the preserved remains of dead plants and animals they are formed by dieing and being trapped under sediment that slowly hardens into rock around the orginisims remains.

A shell fish dieing in a river then being covered by sediment that turns into rock.

Some fossil fuels are coal, oil and natural gas.

Fossils are remains of plants and animals preserved in sedimentary rock.

When animals die they are buried in dirt which after years more and more layers are added turning the older remains to rock.

cause #1: an avalanche would of buried them in rock
cause #2: a sand storm would of buried them in sand

oil, natural gas, and coal are all fossil fuels.

  21. Fossils are the prehistoric form of a dead plant or animal. Over millions of years, this plant or animal is buried under rocks or sediment and then formed into a fossil. Weathering, erosion, and depositon could have been the main factor of fossilization. Some types of fossil fuels; Coal, oil, and natural gas.

  22. Fossils are dead animals or plants that are preserves of the remains of the once living creature . Fossils are formed when a living animal or plant dies and turns into bones and rock like things form around the bones and become a FOSSIL. P.S. Fossils take many many years to form.
Something that could have caused a formation of a fossil is when a dead plant or animal dies and goes through the preservation process.

Today was the most wonderful day at the lab. We Learn about how fossils form and we got some cookie dough and made them flat and drawed some fossils then we put the cookies in the oven. When we were waiting we diged some fake fossils in the fake dirt later we talked about how the fossils were formed. Then it was the time to eat the fossil cookies(It tasted awesome!). It was interesting that you got the idea of making fossil cookies.

  43. There are several processes that plants and animals or their parts can be preserved. Most living things are quickly recycled upon death. Scavengers and bacteria usually consume all but bones and shells. What caused the formation of a fossil is when death comes and left no where. Also new landforms come, and layers and layers are on top of them. Some fossils are plants fossils, animal, and shells and sometimes humans.

    ReplyDelete
  44. fossils are a thin like an animal that was dead along time ago in a place or it could be anything. Fossils are formed when anything dies just like a dinousar or a leaf it could be anything in the world,so it gets barried like after 200,000,000 million years you see its bones and it is very rare to find one, and a fossil dosent have to be bones it can be footsteps. it can be caused by a dead animal that was barried a long time ago like two hundred million years thats pretty long ago and you find a fossil of it so that is awesome. some fossils we saw today were mummys, shells, dinousars, and a leaf. and mrs. Rollins is a very awesome teacher and pretty nice

Fossils are what is left of plants, animals and other living organisms that are preserved in sedimentary rock.Fossils are formed when a plant or animal dies and over a period of time, are covered with layers of dirt and other materials and is preserved in sedimentary rock.If a plant had died and then after a long period of time, it had been covered with layers of dirt and rock, and if someone found it it could be an imprint of the plant in sedimentary rock which is a fossil.Oil,natural gas and coal are fossil fuels.

  49. Fossils are the remains of plants, animals, and sea shells. Some are created when beings are trapped inside things, like amber or concrete. Sediments are the main cause. Some things are only imprints, like a sea shell in rock. Examples of fossil fuels are coal, and oil. They are nonrenewable resources. Examples of fossils are petrified wood, animals footprints, and bugs encased in amber.

Fossils are the remains of animals, plants, and other organisms that died over millions of years.

Plants die and get buried by sedimentation and the pressure over time turns the sediments to rock, and leaves a impression on the rock.

Some fossil fuels are oil, natural gas, and coal.

  52. Fossils are very ancient dead animals that formed millions of years ago. Like when the dinosaurs died, some of them might have been buried on rock, and found today. Some fossil fuels are coal, oil, natural gas, methane, deisle, ect.

Fossil Fuel's are Oil, Nature gas, and coal which are non-renewable resources made from dead and plant material that has been inside the Earth for millions of years. They are formed when a dead plant or animal lay there for a long time then it becomes layer after layer (etc) and they are found in the sedimentary rock. When the leaves of a plant fall off in dirt then it stays there for a long time the texture stays in the sand and becomes a fossil. Some fossils are dinosaur prints, snails, leaves, and teeth.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Fossils are the petrified remains or imprintions of dead plants or animals. A fossil forms when a plant or animal dies and layers of dirt and rocks form on top of it, making it or an imprint of it petrified under the layers of rock. Some fossil fuels are coal, oil, and natural gas.

  55. Fossils are things that can show you an animals imprint on a rock.
Fossils form when animals lie on the ground for a long time and they start to preserve and the animals imprint is on the rock.
The formation of a fossil is made by layers of rocks pressing on the dead animal underneath.
Some fossil fuels are:coal, oil, petroleum, and Natural gas.

  56. Fossil are things that have been digged up and they have a trace of plants, animals, or other organisms. This is how there formed the fossil shells deeposites deep in underground layers. The thing that could have caused the formation would be dead animals. Some fossils: dinosurs, plants, animals and more. LaB IS SOOO MUCH FUN!!:)

  57. Fossils are remains or imprints, made by orgenisems, in sediments that have been turned into rock. They are formed when the organisem makes an imprint in a soft sediment, the object that is making the imprint gets buried with the sediments and eventualy dissolves and leves the imprint in the forming rock.
One thing that could cause the fomation of a fossil would be that a living organism fell into the sediments and can be preserved if minerals replace the body structure.
The three typs of fossil fuels are Petroleum, Natural Gas, and Coal.

Fossils are impressions, traces, or remains of plants and animals from millions of years ago.

When a plant or animal dies, dirt deposits onto the impression, trace, or remain of the plant and animal. Over millions of years, pressure on the dirt turns the plant or animal into a fossil.
